
As an important adjunct to individual therapy, Wattletree Psychology also runs a number of six week psycho-educational / skill- based groups.
Please note that Medicare rebates for the group sessions may apply to some participants if they are eligible for the Medicare Benefits Schedule
Alternatively and if applicable, Private Health Cover may provide a rebate for group sessions (the amount rebated will vary depending upon cover and the company participants are with). It is important to note however, that you cannot claim both Medicare and Private Health.

The groups we currently have on offer include:
1) 'Thinking Well': Learning the Skills to Think in a More Realistic Way
Group Therapist: Dr Sarah Cotton
Cost: $350 including a tailored workbook and the text ‘Mind over Mood' (of which $125.10 may be rebatable via Medicare)
A six week skill-based group designed to introduce the basics behind Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). In doing so, participants will learn a tangible tool called the ‘Thought Record' that they can apply to not only their current situation but take with them as an important life skill.
The next 'Thinking Well' Group Program will commence on Saturday October 22nd 2011 from 10:00am - 12:00pm (no group October 29th for long weekend). Morning tea provided.

2) 'Assertive Living': Finding the Balance Between Passivity and Aggression'
Group Therapist: Dr Sarah Cotton
Cost: $350 including a tailored workbook (of which $125.10 may be rebatable via Medicare)
A six week skills-based program designed to introduce the basics behind assertiveness. This group will help guide participants in managing their interactions with others to ensure that all parties concerned feel respected
The next ‘Assertive Living' Group Program will commence on Saturday October 22nd 2011 from 1:30pm - 4:00pm (no group October 29th for long weekend). Afternoon tea will be provided.

3) 'Core Beliefs': A Transition to Individual Coping
Group Therapists: Dr Heather McCormack and Dr Sarah Cotton
Cost: $350 including a tailored workbook (of which $125.10 may be rebatable via Medicare)
This program is a six-week independent and individually tailored group program, designed to build upon one's understanding of ‘Core Beliefs' developed in the ‘Thinking Well' Program. At the end of the program, participants will have begun to identify more realistic and functional beliefs to help reduce levels of distress and think and behave more adaptively.
NOTE: We are aiming to run a Core Belief and Stress Less Group later in the year. If you are interested in attending either of these groups, please call Reception (03) 9500 0455 and ask for your name to be included on the 'Interest List' so that you can be kept informed of the starting date.

4) ‘Stress Less': Towards a Healthier and more Balanced Life

This program is a six-week skills based program designed to introduce the basics behind stress management, relaxation and mindfulness. Through learning to manage stress more effectively participants will begin to make some important shifts towards a healthier and more balanced life.

5) Triple P: Positive Parenting Program (Level 4)
Level 4 Triple P groups are run once a year in the third school term. The program involves five two-hour groups run in the evening at our Wattletree Road rooms. Find out more about Triple P at http://www.triplep.net/.
